Poetry – I Spy – Samantha Carr

‘Did Tyrannosaurus forget to wash his hands?’

I Spy

I spy something beginning with R-number. No man is an island, but single parents are stranded. The virus took its toll on the school bell. Does your school seat pine for you? If you put your ear to the playground, past play makes a distant echo. In lockdown we are learning about the lifespan of the truth. Did Tyrannosaurus forget to wash his hands? So many questions, so much time. I apologise for lockdown lunches. The chef, teacher, mum has too many hats.

Samantha lives in Plymouth where she recently finished studying MA Creative Writing. She writes flash fiction and poetry and is particularly interested in the micro forms of Twitter writing.
